Ithaca Beer Co: Our Local Brewery
Technically, there is a closer brewery — 3 Herons — but they don’t sell beer (yet). Ithaca Beer has been selling beer since the late ’90s. Their most famous brews are Apricot Wheat and Nut Brown. Both are delicious. But there’s more.
Just after we moved to Trumansburg, Ithaca Beer opened their newly-constructed taproom, restaurant, and brewing facility. It’s amazing. It’s huge. We’ve been there three times already and I want to go back right now.
The place reminds us a lot of New Glarus in Wisconsin — there’s outdoor seating ready for the summer, lots of gleaming stainless steel, brewing happening in plain view. But there’s also shuffleboard and great food. The last time we were there, a fermentation-foam-blob was threatening to take over the brew room, oozing out of the massive fermenter and creeping across the floor.
The food is easily as good as (if not better than) the food at our local favorite, Hazelnut Kitchen (and it’s loads cheaper). And did I mention the shuffleboard? Did I mention I want to go there right now?
Ok, enough. Time for some pictures.
