Next Stop: London

Next Stop: London

Well, we leave for London this weekend. We can’t wait. We’ll be van-free for the first time in months. Instead of piling stuff in the van and cooking on the Coleman, we’ll be strolling down Piccadilly and searching for chicken tikka. We’ve got to fit everything we need into a suitcase instead of a minivan. And that’s been tricky.

We couldn’t find our power converter in our midden of a storage closet. We did, however, manage to track down a couple of our nicer clothing items. I’m packing multiple button-down shirts. They’re new in the mix. I’m packing less hiking gear. Lisa’s bringing “cute” shoes (and hiking shoes too). We’re hoping for nice weather (70s, please). We’re going to try and go sailing. We’re ready for some city life.

But my main goal? Become a regular at a London pub. We’ll be in London’s Hackney borough. There’s got to be some great pubs around.

When I was in London when I was 10ish, I remember my parents taking me to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street and wondering what the hell we were doing in such a shitty bar. I can’t wait to get back there, it’s just going to be a bit of a walk. We’ll need to find something a bit closer for most days. I can’t wait.

We’ll be posting from London starting next week, but we’ve still got a few things to write about from the Midwest. More to come. As always, thank you for reading.
