Next Weekend: New York City
It’s a bit ridiculous how much we’re looking forward to being in New York City. We can’t wait to visit friends, explore new areas, eat at Papaya King (that might be just me, not Lisa), and just stroll in an urban environment. And by stroll, I mean walk fast as shit. I am the fastest walker in Trumansburg by a factor of maybe ten. I crush other people on the sidewalk. I am the Usain Bolt of this town. I want some walking competition. I need a break from the shuffle.
I’m also going to make it my first laptop-free vacation in … a whole pile of years. I don’t remember when I last traveled without bringing a laptop along for the ride. It’ll be all cell phones and tablet for us (thanks, Dappered) and a drastically smaller tangle of cords. The Nexus 7 is encrypted and ready. Just need to load a few Louie and Archer episodes for the bus ride. It’s going to be interesting — feels like intentionally not bringing a change of underwear right now.
But if you want another alternative view to my best travel laptop recommendations (note: the $250 Samsung Chromebook is back in stock), the picks with the $500 limit, pull out your credit card(s) and check this out.
Some of you are probably wondering if we’ll try to blackmail places in New York with our travel-clout, like where we’re staying one night, the Union Hotel in Brooklyn. Nope. The ReviewerCard seems like quite the scam. We’re paying the posted rate ourselves, which was a deal. More on that after our visit. Now, if a hotel offered to put us up … that may be different. Ahem.
