Once, I asked my Dad why he and my Mom had decided to live where they did — in the middle of nowhere, upstate New York. He responded: “The Adirondacks.” Our visit this past week reminded me why I was satisfied with that one-word answer.

    Portlandia the show is exactly this. Although that show was funny for about 1.5 episodes before it got stupid. So jump on Netflix, watch the pilot and maybe episode 1, and know you and Fred Armisten think alike in your view of the Great, green Northwest. Grunge on!
