Where is next?

Where is next?

Over the past eleven months, we’ve thought a lot about what we want to do and where we want to be after our trip, and we’ve made a decision. Well, we’ve made a decision for a year, at least. It feels too scary to commit to anything longer than a year right now.

When we return from London — the first week of October — we’ll grab a Penske truck, load up our Chicago storage closet, and haul our stuff out to Ithaca, NY (which we accidentally leaked a few days ago…so much for the element of surprise). We’ll look for a decent, cheap-ish apartment, then we’ll get to work. We’ll work on a book about our trip and see if that goes anywhere, and I’ll look for a job (any job) at one of the local wineries. We’ll try not to spend too much money at our old favorite restaurants. We’ll keep hiking and exploring new areas. We’ll try to keep the spirit of Driving Inertia alive, in some form…you can be sure that we’ll continue rambling away on here about the interesting things we find. And we’ll continue to see how we can manage future trips. Alaska’s mosquitoes are still waiting for us.

Back to the land of gorges...
Back to the land of gorges…
...waterfalls...
…waterfalls…
...and vineyards.
…and vineyards.
