Where We Are and Where We’re Headed

Where We Are and Where We’re Headed

After Great Smoky, we spent a night in the backcountry of South Carolina, then pushed to lowcountry, the coast, and Charleston. This is all past tense because it has all happened. Our posts are about a week behind reality. We’ve been to Charleston (5 nights), we stopped in Savannah (2 nights, with a stop for beers at Pinkie Master’s), and we’ve made it to the Gulf coast. We’re holed-up on Florida’s St. Joseph Peninsula where we have everything but cell service.

We spent our first night in Florida in a pine forest. The beach feels much better – much more like Florida’s supposed to feel. We may get stuck here for a bit. We paid for 2 nights already. We’ll probably renew for 3 more. Maybe more. Lisa’s ready to stay a month.

Next big stop is New Orleans, but there’s a jazz festival going on, so it’s either a great or terrible time to visit. We haven’t decided yet.

Tomorrow we’ll restock the beer supply, celebrate 7 months on the road, and write a bit about Charleston, a city we loved. More, as always, to come.
